Emma Martin
Associate
Emma Martin (she/her) joined the firm as an Associate in 2024 with a background in anti-discrimination work and LGBTQIA+ advocacy. Emma successfully testified in front of the New Jersey Senate Labor Committee advocating for protections against weight discrimination and had her work successfully published on NJ.com and the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion. Before joining the Law Offices of Laurie E. Morrison, Emma held a clerkship at the Office of Administrative Law.
Emma graduated from Rutgers Law School (Camden) in 2023. During law school, Emma interned at multiple organizations, including Mazzoni Center Legal Services in Philadelphia, Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund in New York, and the Chosen Family Law Center in New York. In all these internships, Emma advocated for the rights and justice of LGBTQIA+ people through employment discrimination work, name changes, impact litigation and family law matters.
In 2023, Emma co-founded the Rutgers Name Change Project, which assists transgender and nonbinary residents of New Jersey with the legal name change process. Emma also served as the President of If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice, the Vice President of OUTLaws and the Lead Articles Editor for the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion. She was also a part of the Social Justice Scholars, the Marshall Brennan Fellowship, and served as a Legal Writing TA during her time in law school. She won numerous awards during law school for her advocacy and legal writing.
Before law school, Emma attended Adelphi University Honors College and graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW).
